Technology for Assessment

This week we talked about a variety of different technologies that can be used to help assess lower students, especially those with special needs.  The conversation as engaging and thoughtful, however the more I read the more I realized that I currently could not relate to this topic.

You see, I am on the opposite side  of the spectrum.  None of my students are considered special needs, rather all of them are considered gifted.  My students are some of the highest in their classes and they come to my school to relearn all the concepts from school in a second language.  They have surpassed the typical English learning curriculum are in need of more advanced topics, relating to science and social studies.

I am by no means trying to brag about my students, but rather bring a new perspective to the discussion of assisting technology.  What are we using for those students who are gifted?
How are we using technology in a way that will engage and better assess them as well?

I don't have the answers.  I have honestly not even thought about it until this week.  But I should. We should.  Often times teachers (myself included) tend to overlook the gifted students by giving them busy work or making them teachers assistants.  But how is that helping them? It wasn't until I had a class comprised solely of  gifted students that I realized we need to do more for them as well.  We need to make sure that that we are implementing programs into our classrooms that will help them succeed as well.

Below is a TedTalk given by a gifted student.  My kids every semester have to do something similar. While watching this video, I want you to think how are you able to help students like him succeed? How can we make sure that we are properly assessing them as well?
